The huge computer festival in Taiwan, Computex, is set to see the release of yet another AMD platform. This time it’s in the mobile/notebook sector with the introdcution of the 45nm Tigris mobile platform. Supposedly, AMD may also reveal a few details on a quad-core mobile platform too.
Digitimes believe that the new Tigris platform will incorporate a dual-core 45nm Caspian CPU which moves away from AMD’s favourite 65nm Athlon CPU’s utilised in the Puma platform. An RS880M chipset, SB710 Southbridge and either a 55nm or 40nm M9X GPU will complete the Tigris and means that users can look forward to DirectX 10.1 and ATI’s second generation UVD engine. It is expected that the Tigris will be a 14-inch model.
More light could be shed on AMD’s 2010 mobile platform venture – the Chaplain is based on a 45nm quad-core CPU along with SBBxxM series chipset and DDR3 memory.
