ATI RV870 / R800 Set For Release Coinciding with DirectX 11

As it stands, DirectX 11 hardware is more likely to be released before Microsoft’s newest OS – Windows 7 – which is set for an October 22nd release date.

ATi are planning to have the RV870 / R800 cards launched in Q3 sometime, probably nearer the end of it or perhaps the start of Q4. With Windows 7 now having an imminent timsescale before launch, ATI are expected to have multiple DirectX 11 cards ready.

ATI seem to have got one up here over Nvidia as no one knows when they are planning to get into DriectX 11 cards; it is many people’s opinion that this will not happen until 2010 though.
